SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Workers from Mulberry Bush Landscaping began planting more than 200 new trees in South Scranton Friday morning.

The project is part of an on going city effort to beautify the neighborhood. The city is spending about $100,000 to plant 238 trees along streets throughout the neighborhood. The money is coming from the city's Office of Community Development.

Mayor Chris Doherty says he wants to plant even more next year. Residents who want trees are being asked to call the Mayor's office. The city must have the home owner's permission to plant the trees.

Father Patrick Albert is one of the South Scranton residents having trees planted in front of his home. He said neighbors are thrilled with the project.
