SNYDERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY - Shine your bikes and gas up for a special charity ride this weekend. The Tri State Troopers fund invites you to a charity motorcycle run Sunday. Jack Manuel of the Pocono Township Police said it's, "Just to let all the families know we are here for them and we stand behind them whatever they need."

The fund provides money to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty. State Trooper David Peters said, "You never truly understand how much the community supports you until times like this when they really come out and really show their good support for caring."

The ride is usually a big event but this year organizers expect it will be even bigger because a Pennsylvania State Trooper was killed at work in June. Manuel said, "We lost a wonderful member of law enforcement." Trooper Joshua Miller was gunned down while protecting a young boy.

Rose Schoch owns Schoch's Harley Davidson in Snydersville. She said, "There is a widow, there are three young children who need an education and everything that children need." Rose organized a fund raiser for Trooper Miller's family. She's raffling off a Harley. It's a 2009 Crossbones model. Schoch said, "Josh was freedom to me. He did things in the way that he thought they had to be done and people on motorcycles do the same thing."

Manuel said, Everyone involved hopes the community supports Trooper Miller's family the way Trooper Miller supported his community. "Josh was a guy you wanted to model your career after. He was right there. You called for help it was whatever he could do to help you."

You can pick up raffle tickets at Schoch's Harley Davidson in Snydersville. Or you can call Trooper Peters at 570-839-7701.

The bike run is called the Ambrose/Schultz Motorcycle Run. Registration starts at 8:30 at the Pocono Township Municipal Building. The run starts at 10 a. m. The ride is about 100 miles and will pass by places that were important to Trooper Miller. The ride costs $20. It includes a barbecue. For more information visit TriStateTRPS@verizon. net.
