KINGSTON TWP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Police say Anthony Hughes pulled a gun on a trooper after threatening his ex-girlfriend. Troopers say Hughes went to his ex-girlfriends house on Mooretown Road at 1pm Thursday morning. He apparently wanted to patch things up but when she said no he held a gun to his head. People inside the house called state police. When they got there police say Hughes pointed the gun at a trooper. The trooper fired his gun twice but no one was hurt and Hughes surrendered.
Troopers say the gun Hughes used wasn't even his. It was stolen from the city of Wilkes-Barre and Hughes didn't have a license to carry it. It's not clear how Hughes got the gun. Right now Hughes is charged with assaulting a police officer, recklessly endangering another person, and gun charges. He's locked up in the Luzerne county jail. Hughes will be back in court in early November. He's in jail on 30 thousand dollars bail.
