KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- We found lots of little kids splashing around at the pool in Kingston. But for those who don't have access to a pool to keep cool.

Frankie Redmond said, "I just put my head underneath the faucet, get cold water on me and it feels good."

They're getting creative trying to beat the summer heat. Redmond is busy buffing and beautifying a few cars at the Mr. Kleen Kar Wash in Exeter. "I’m doing a few cars now, shuffling through, busy today, but some people don't want to be out because it's too warm you know," he said.

Temps soared above 90 degrees as crews changed the bulbs on this sign. Others felt the breeze at their back biking down Wyoming Avenue. For Mark Laverdi there's no way around the hot summer sun on a busy day filling in cracks at the parking lot of Gubbiotti's Funeral Home. "It's about 125-degrees on the tar and it's a hot job, but you get used to it," he said.

After 13-years on the job, Laverdi knows how important it is to stop and fill up on fluids. We found Jeff Holtz and Tim Dougherty getting ready for a Little League tournament in West Pittston. "What can you say, it’s hot. In the morning it's nice and cool, all of a sudden it hits you. It's very hot, hot and muggy,” said Dougherty.

But Jeff Holtz said, “It's nice for a change. It's better than snow!"

Others sprayed down their cars while Patrick Johnson got in a go-kart and took a few laps at Rich's Golf and Fun Center.

6-year-old Alexa Vavrek challenged her family on the mini-golf course and said she didn’t mind the heat. And why not end the day with a cold drink and an ice cream? It’s just one way some are keeping cool at work and play on a hot July day.
