TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY-Graduation is usually a time of pomp circumstance and celebration. But last year tragedy struck just hours after graduation at Tunkhannock Area High School - when there was a triple fatal accident involving students.
This years the school is looking to keep students safe
Tunkhannock Principal Greg Ellsworth says "Some people were in a tragic car accident and we wanted to be proactive and provide safe and structured activities..

The idea is a lock up. -Grads locked in the school all night - as the community provides food, fun and games...

"We have lazer tag- bungy pull texas hold'em tournaments x-box tournaments. Lots of food provided by the community pizza, water soda... The snacks "

"There's a lot of fun activities but you can also stay safe at the same time" notes Annie Oliver a 2009 Tunkhannock Graduate..

Fellow graduates Linsey Vogin and Dakota Brown agree
"I think this is really a great idea that the community pitched in and was able to do this for us." Says Vogin "It's good clean fun and it's the last time we're going to be able to see these kids again before we graduate..

The school is hopeful the lock-up will be the start of a new- safe graduation tradition - that will be great for option grads and a great comfort for parents.. Brown adds "They thought it was a great idea - they said lock in or stay home so chose the lock in for sure".
