LEHIGHTON, CARBON COUNTY- Traffic was tied up for hours on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Monday afternoon after a tractor trailer accident around 3:00.
The southbound lanes were closed for several hours about 7 miles north of the Mahoning Valley exit. Traffic was detoured off at the Pocono exit then back onto the turnpike southbound at the Mahoning Valley exit for nearly three hours.
The trailer, carrying large rolls of paper, tipped onto its side blocking two lanes. The tractor was dangling off the side of the embankment.
Crews had to take the driver to the ambulance in an unusual way. They used ladders to bring the man over the truck that was blocking the roadway to the ambulance.
There’s no word on his condition. The road was back open just after 6:00 Monday evening. | |
