Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Moosic Business - Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 3:30PM EST

MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Fire destroyed a building along Birney Avenue in Moosic. It broke out just after 11:00 Wednesday morning in a 3-story building that housed 'The Nail Depot.'
Several blocks had to close to traffic. Firefighters from Moosic and surrounding communities responded to the alarm as flames and smoke poured out of the roof and windows.

Old Forge Fire Chief Bob Aulisio said, "We already had fire going up the walls on all four sides just about into the attic. We did hit the initial fire down but then it just got away from us into the walls. We tried to catch it but we couldn't."

No one was inside when the fire started. There's no word yet on a cause.
