Two Injured After ATVs Tumble Off Cliff - Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 11:49PM EST

JESSUP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Two people were taken to the hospital after they rode their ATVs off a cliff Sunday afternoon in Lackawanna County.

The accident happened just off of Route 247 in Jessup around 3:00 P. M. firefighters say two people from New York State fell between 20 and 50 feet after they rode through state land that's off limits.

Both people were rescued and were alert and conscious at the time. Jessup Hose Company #2 Chief Steve Pitoniak said, “Right now, we're not sure of the extent of injuries. They had some back injuries and possibly some arm and leg injuries.”

The names of the two people hurt have not been released. Firefighters say they were both wearing helmets at the time of the accident in Lackawanna County.
