Williamsport, Lycoming County-

A courthouse shuffle was underway in Lycoming County as two new judges were sworn in Monday.

"…That I will support, obey, and defend, the Constitution of the United States, and the constitution of this Commonwealth,” they repeated.

With the oath of office administered, Marc Lovecchio and Joy Reynolds McCoy took their place on the Lycoming County bench. Both were lawyers who cross-filed and secured their election way back in the May primary.

New Lycoming County Judge Marc Lovecchio explained, "More than anything, I want to serve the citizens who come before me with the utmost ability, integrity, and character."

The judges were sworn in before a standing-room-only crowd of family, friends, and colleagues at Williamsport's Trade and Transit Centre.

New Lycoming County Judge Joy Reynolds McCoy said, "I, along with Judge Lovecchio, am honored to join these judges on the bench and carry out the tradition of judicial excellence of Lycoming County."

With the retirement of Judge Kenneth Brown, Judge Nancy Butts was also sworn in as the new president judge of the county.

She believes she and the new judges will be able to continue the great tradition of Lycoming County's judicial system.

Butts noted, "(It’s) one that's filled with a lot of history and has a great reputation for their scholarship as well as their integrity."

Father Francis Castellano gave the invocation. He prayed, "We ask almighty God to bless you abundantly, to watch over you, and to help you as you lead us in doing the right things."

In a separate ceremony Monday afternoon, Mark Lusk was sworn in as the new sheriff of Lycoming County. Lusk replaces retiring Sheriff Charles Brewer, who spent nearly 25 years at the post.
