WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Two men convicted of one of a brutal home invasion learned their fate Wednesday.
Daniel Pinkney and Kevin Fisher will serve hard time behind bars for a home invasion at the home of Nick and Martha Caputo. The Caputos, both in their late 70's, say they finally can have peace of mind.
Pinkney and Fisher were convicted of the Novemer 2008 home invasion of the CaputoÕs home on South Pine Street in Hazleton. They smashed through the rear door and threatened, then beat, the Caputos.
Pinkney and Fisher went there looking for money. The Caputo family owns several businesses. The Caputos fought back and that, investigators say, saved their lives. They suffered serious injuries.
In court Pinkney said he was sorry. Fisher had nothing to say. Judge Peter Paul Olszweski sentenced Pinkney to 16 to 32 years in prison and sent Fisher away for 20 to 40 years.
The judge told the men the crime was one of the worst he ever saw and told Fisher that he is a danger to society and must be locked up.
The Caputos, surrounded by their family, say it's time for this to end. ÒThey're going to prison where they belong. We're happy we don't have to go through this again. I hope they repent for what they did. They won't be on the street to hurt anyone else, that's all that counts," said Martha Caputo.
Two other men have been charged with masterminding the attack. They both are facing prison time as well. | | |
