SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins hockey player apologized Monday after being charged with running naked down the street.

The Times Tribune newspaper is reporting team captain Nathan Smith was charged after streaking in Scranton late Saturday night. The paper reports Smith said he ran naked on Adams Avenue as part of a bet.

In a statement Smith apologized for an embarrassing and regrettable decision. The Penguins organization says it is cooperating with police and promises private disciplinary action.

Penguins’ player Ryan Stone was also picked up by police for public drunkenness.
