AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY --They say desperate times call for desperate measures. And that's what is prompting a Luzerne County man to sell a testicle on ebay. Is this a joke?

Well, sort of, but the man who posted it says he is trying to make a legitimate point. He's a casualty of this recession, unemployed for two months --and frustrated the government seems more willing to help Wall Street and auto execs more than the little guy.

“You ever hear of the expression I'd sell my right nut for that? Well, I put on my right testicle." 24-year-old Ron Reeves says it's about all he has to sell to make ends meet. "It's tough out there. You can't find a job." Laid off twice in six months, this Avoca man has been out of job since October. Frustrated by constant rejections, he turned to ebay.

"A lot of people make money on ebay." Ron's asking for a starting bid of half a million dollars for his right testicle. The description guarantees it's in good working order --he's got a daughter and an unborn son to prove it. "I don't expect anyone to purchase it. I don't know what I would if somebody did."

Ron posted it to make a point criticizing the government for bailing out Wall Street --and maybe the auto industry. He's angry that tax dollars are going to the salaries of high paid executives who helped create the problem. "The middle class isn't gettin' nothing. We get out of a job. Well, you fend for yourself. We're going to take care of the big guys. I don't think that's right."

In the meantime, Ron hasn't gotten any bids. Perhaps you can blame the bad economy for that too.

Ron expects ebay will remove the posting shortly. It has a policy against selling body parts. Even if he did sell it, it probably wouldn't do anyone any good. Testicular transplants are not a common medical practice.
