SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Two Jesuit-based Catholic Schools will be sharing a huge donation from that Jesuit community.
The University of Scranton and Scranton Preparatory School will each be receiving two million dollars. The announcement was made at a news conference in Scranton on Thursday where the Jesuits are marking 65 years of service to the community.
The grants to Scranton Prep and the university both come with the same goal in mind.
Jesuit Administrator Father Bernard McIlhenny, S.J. explained the money goes toward "To foster the Catholic and Jesuit tradition of education here at the University of Scranton, which spans back as far as the Jesuit's are concerned, for 65 years."
Another two million dollars will go to the health care fund of the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus.
