WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Sue Price won't let go. She replays her son's final moments over and over in her head. She wasn't there when 20-year-old Jeffrey died four years ago. But she says a mother's intuition tells her the death was no accident, despite analysis and a resulting ruling by police and county detectives who handled the case. "I know something is very wrong. I just want the truth. I can't go on with my life until I find out the truth."
Price's body was found in May, 2004 at a friend's home in Edwardsville. He died from a gunshot wound to the head. His dad said it was a .45-caliber. They tell Eyewitness News after some back and forth with detectives, their son's death was labeled an accident. They question the thoroughness of the investigation. "He was too afraid of guns. He didn't know nothing about guns and I just can't picture him picking up a gun and wondering if there was anything in it, waving it around in front of his face."
The Price family is suspicious of some of their son's friends, though they're not pointing the finger of blame. Sue Price wants police intervention. They live with a statement made by the late Luzerne County Coroner Dr. George Hudock. "He told me, in my opinion Mrs. Price, your son's death should be further investigated."
Luzerne County District Attorney Jackie Musto Carroll remembered the case Tuesday night. She said if the family had new evidence, she'd like to see it. Otherwise, she was unable to comment. | |
