SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY -- One of the nation's leaders was in our area Sunday. Vice President Joe Biden was enshrined into Little League's Hall of Excellence in South Williamsport.

The vice president recalled playing ball as an 8-year old with the Green Ridge Little League in Scranton. He played for a team called ÒHankÕs Hoagies.Ó

Mr. Biden joked with the crowd saying, if given a choice between being vice president or playing in the Little League World Series, he would pick the world series.

Biden was on hand to congratulate the team from California who won the Little League title by beating Taiwan 6-3.

And another familiar face is at the Little League World Series this weekend. Eyewitness News caught up with Jared Fogle, the spokesperson for Subway. He was in town promoting the sub chain's "Baseball: Design Across America Tour."

Jared has some nice words to say about the people from this area. ÒIt's great coming to Williamsport. It's about as Americana I think as you can get. I'm from Indianapolis, Indiana, so I'm from the Midwest area. You know, the people here are even I think friendlier than they are back home and it's just, you know it's just great to see the community really rally behind this obviously is such a, such a big event,Ó he said.

The tour invited little leaguers to submit different baseball design ideas. All the baseballs were signed by celebrities including Drew Barrymore and Zac Efron signed the baseballs -- which will be auctioned on eBay with proceeds benefiting Little League Baseball.
