SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Several cherry and oak trees were the target of vandals at a park in Scranton.

City officials confirm at least five trees were damaged over the weekend at Nay Aug Park. Investigators think someone used a hatchet to chop down the trees.

Remnants of the damage are still visible. Police say they're looking for anyone with information on the vandalism.

If the culprits are caught they could face a $250 fine for each tree that was damaged.
