TAYLOR, LACKAWNNA COUNTY- A community park needs repairs after vandals left their mark. It happened at Derenick Park off Union Street in Taylor.
The vandals targeted sheds sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning. They broke locks, smashed doors and knocked down light fixtures.
They also toppled a vending machine, bent signs and busted up electrical boxes.
That, according to Taylor DPW Foreman Joe Iacovazzi, could have had deadly consequences. "It’s 400 amp service. They actually grabbed this and pulled this away. It’s possibly live. They could have been shocked - dead. They got lucky," he said.
Vandals also slashed a tire to a senior citizens van and tried to hotwire the vehicle. Anyone with information on the damage at Derenick Park should call Taylor Police at 562-2210. | |
