Vapors Force School Evacuation

Vapors Force School Evacuation - Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 12:35PM EST

Reported by: Mark Hiller
Wednesday, Oct 3, 2007 @12:35pm EST
FREELAND, LUZERNE COUNTY- There was an emergency evacuation at Freeland Elementary School just after 9:30 this morning.

Students were evacuated after tar vapors were drawn into the school through an air vent system while a contractor was working on a construction project.

Students were evacuated to the Freeland YMCA as a precautionary measure. We do know one student was taken by ambulance from the school but it's not certain if that's related to the vapors in the school.

The school was vented and the air monitored and everyone is now allowed back into Freeland Elementary.
