MONTGOMERY, LYCOMING COUNTY - They lifted their voices to sing the praises of veterans from all wars. Children from the Montgomery Elementary School staged a tribute to their relatives, friends and neighbors who have served their country. World War II Veteran Harry C. Moore said, "It's a great day to be an American. I'll always be faithful to my country. Love it!"

And the youngsters showed how grateful they are. Patriotic songs coupled with signing show their esteemed guests how eager they are to get their message across. Montgomery Elementary’s Trevor Diggan said, "They help us so we can have our country and it could be free."

The tribute also teaches the children about our nation's past and present. Pennsylvania Guardsman Sgt. Josh Quimby said, "The wars that are going on now, twenty years from now they're going to be in the textbooks and the kids, you know, their children are going to read about it."

The program finished with the veterans being saluted by waving flags. Sergeant Quimby added, "The Lee Greenwood song at the end when you turned around and see all the kids waving the flag….that song does it to me enough but seeing all the little kids putting in all the work that they did. It's nice to see there are people out there that remember the older veterans not just the people who are going through it right now."
