WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Monday was a special day for veterans in our area as they kicked off the countdown to an emotional trip.
The World War Two Veterans Memorial project had a dedication and flag raising ceremony outside the Luzerne County courthouse in Wilkes-Barre.
In just two weeks they'll send three bus loads of world war two veterans down to Washington D. C. to see the world war two memorial.
Many of the veterans will see it for the first time.
World War Two Veteran Willis Ide said, "Oh, it means everything. My daughter was going to take me some time this summer if I didn't get down before. I don't think I can really describe it. We're just really looking forward to it."
The veterans will leave from Mohegan Sun on April 29th.
Their trip is being paid for by 'Leadership Wilkes-Barre.' | |
