STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - More than 25-thousand employees who work at Keller Williams Realty offices across the US took the day to help others.
Jane Wells Schooley works at the Stroudsburg location. About thirty volunteers from that office volunteered in the borough. She said,"We're here only for one reason - to give. We don't need anything in return."
The volunteers spent Thursday working at the PATH house. PATH stands for Pocono Area Transitional Housing.
It's a place for homeless mothers and children to get their lives back on track.
Wells Schooley said,"Unfortunately a lot of the poor are women and children and they're struggling to get back to some sense of normalcy." Her coworker Amy Galligan added,"They were very like come on over - we got tons of stuff to do."
The volunteers worked for hours. They landscaped, painted and cleaned. PATH Caseworker Allison Moretz said,"I think it's wonderful. I think it's great that people will take the time out to come and help an organization."
The Keller Williams staff hopes that what they're doing here inspires other people in the community.
Wells Schooley said,"We really do want the community to understand that just one little day out of their life can change dozens of lives."
They took a day to make a difference in the community and they say you can too.
In addition to fixing up two houses for PATH, the volunteers also collected several boxes of books for the children's libraries in those houses. | | |
