STROUDSBURG - Some may say the volunteers demolishing an old trailer were working for free but they say they're working for Jesus.
Volunteer Gary Day said, "We look at this as some sort of payback for what the Lord did for us."
He and about thirty other volunteers came to Stroudsburg from North Carolina. They're part of a Baptist Missionary Group.
Volunteer Steve Dobbins said, "It's all just raising consciousness for Jesus Christ and Northwinds Church."
The Northwinds Church is a fledgling ministry in Stroudsburg. Its landlord own an old trailer. He agreed to give the church a rent discount if members helped him demolish the eyesore.
So the volunteers headed north to help.
And while some volunteers finished tearing down the trailer, other volunteers from their group climbed up on top of the YMCA to give it a fresh coat of paint.
They hope all of the work helps bring attention to the Northwinds Church and its mission.
"And by other people seeing that - they're seeing these guys are doing that for nothing - there must be something to this Jesus thing," said Day. | |
