SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

An agency that works with the disabled in Lackawanna County is also working to improve the community!

Goodwill Industries is involved in a so-called 'Good Neighbor Project" in which volunteers from the agency are cleaning several vacant lots in South Scranton. The sites were selected by the South Side Neighborhood Association.

The volunteers cut grass, pull weeds and pick up litter and debris.

Goodwill President Jerry Langon says its a way for the agency to give something back to the community. He says the neighborhoods get a cleanup and the volunteers feel a sense of pride and self respect by doing the work.

Four cleanup sites have already been selected and others may be added to the list.
