BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY - Students at Bloomsburg University spent the day Wednesday learning the importance of the upcoming presidential election. College students are being considered a key demographic in this year's election, but they don't usually turn out on election day.
"This election is important. I just registered here at Bloomsburg because I'm obviously not home at the time," junior Caitlin Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald is one of more than 1,900 new students to register at Bloomsburg University alone. Wednesday, those students learned the issues and heard from the candidates first-hand.
"If students get out to vote in a conserted effort, to make our issues, the issues, then those issues all of a sudden become central issues," Bloomsburg University Democrat member Joe Wright said.
