WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- The case of a Wilkes-Barre Area teacher and an alleged drunken fight has school leaders acting.

Larissa Goldstein is charged with two felonies. The art teacher spent some time in custody this weekend. Now the school district will launch its own fact-finding investigation into this weekend incident involving one of its teachers.

Police accuse the Solomon Plains teacher in a drunken assault Saturday night at a Plains Township apartment. Arrest papers claim Goldstein barged into Sherry Rizzo's place after yelling "I will {expletive} both of you’s up," apparently referring to Rizzo and her boyfriend.

Police say Goldstein punched Rizzo in the face. They say the supposed victim had nail and punch marks on her face.

As far as motive, arrest papers claim Goldstein was trying to locate her boyfriend, whom she believed was smoking crack, according to those documents.

At this time, district Superintendent Jeffrey Namey says Goldstein will remain on paid leave pending the outcome of its own inquiry. And it'll stay that way unless the district finds convincing evidence to reverse that decision.
