We've been telling you for months, WBRE will go digital today. It's happening a minute before midnight.
But don't put off getting ready... If you still use an antenna or rabbit ears on an analog TV, you need a converter box. With hours to go, one woman called us to say, she can't figure out how to get her DTV.

70-year-old Martha Mindzek of Hazleton couldn't make sense of the cables and instructions that came with her converter box. Mindzek says, “I asked and they explain to me. I have here on paper how to do it. Maybe because of age I am confused."

If we can't figure it out, Martha's TV screen will turn to snow by midnight. So with directions in hand we plug an antenna cable into one hole in the box. The supplied cable goes from the box into the TV.

We turn on the box. Then power on the remote that came with it. We set the TV on channel 3 or 4. Then answer a series of questions asked by the set up wizard. It will finally conduct an “autoscan.” “Now it's scanning for stations that are digital."

After two minutes, the scan ends and Martha has her DTV! Local affiliates WBRE, WYOU and WNEP come in clear, but there's a problem. “She gets all the stations except 56 and 38. It’s probably because the antenna is broken. If she gets new rabbit ears and reposition them, she should get the rest of the stations."

Now Martha needs to remember to point the new remote at the box and not the TV. “Now you have your digital TV. And thank you very much. Our pleasure. We're just glad you can watch WBRE tomorrow morning. 100% 28 channel is my channel."
