WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- The warm weather means big business for area car washes. Lines were long Saturday afternoon at two popular spots in Wilkes-Barre.
People packed McCarthy Car Wash on Kidder Street and Sparkle Brite Car Wash on Mundy Street. Drivers were anxious to get rid of the salt and dirt that winter brings.-- while workers were going non-stop.
Leigh Ann Kemmerer said, "I've been dying for weather like this for a while and my car is a mess so I just can't wait to get the salt off and hopefully it will stay off."
Sparkle Brite worker Keith Evangelisi said, "I knew it would be nice. I wore shorts today, but nah... I didn't think it would be this busy. One after another I haven't stopped all day."
Back at McCarthy's, employees say they washed 271 cars Saturday, much more than average. | |
