Wegmans shoppers who smoke will have to pick up their cigarettes elsewhere.

The Rochester, NY company announced Friday it will stop selling tobacco products at its 71 stores in February. In a letter to employees, executives Danny Wegman and his daughter Colleen wrote, 'we have come to this decision after thinking about the role smoking plays in people's health... We certainly respect a person's right to smoke, but we believe there are few of us who would introduce our children to smoking.''

The grocery stores will sell off their present inventory until February 10.

Wegmans has locations in Wilkes-Barre Township, Dickson City, Williamsport, and State College.
