WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Philadelphia man accused of a deadly shooting in Luzerne County was back in court on Friday.

26-year old Byron Lamar Vinson entered a not guilty plea to several charges including criminal homicide. The Luzerne County District Attorney said Vinson had been using the alias Daquan Mitchell.

Vinson is accused of gunning down Wayman Higgins outside the White House Cafe on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre back in June. Prosecutors said it started as an argument inside the bar over spilled beer.

The shooting sparked public outcry by residents who want the Liquor Control Board to shut down the White House Cafe.

A trial date has been set for May 5th.
