WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Thursday marked the national day of prayer.
This year's theme is "Prayer, America 's Strength and Shield.”
WBRE TV News stopped by the national day event at the First United Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre .
A small group prayed for local leaders and those in the military.
The national day of prayer tradition dates back to 1795 when issued by president George Washington.
