WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Parishioners at Holy Trinity Church in Wilkes-Barre gave a standing ovation at mass Sunday, but it was a bittersweet celebration.

The East South Street church is closing its doors as part of the Catholic consolidation. Sunday was the last mass for Holy Trinity's more than 500 parishioners.

The church has been around for more than a century, opening in 1893.
