HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY- A Wayne County woman convicted of burning her baby boy is headed to state prison.

A judge sentenced 30-year-old Susan Pevec of Browndale Friday morning to serve 2-to-5 years. Her 14-month-old son, Mason, suffered the chest burns in 2006.

Prosecutors say she tried to pin the crime on the baby's father, Christopher White, during a child custody battle.

The baby's grandfather says it's been a long ordeal. Kevin White said, "We've been through hell for 2 years. Everybody doesn't know the whole story. How much and a lot of what her lawyer said was bunk. We took the high road from the beginning and I guess in the end it paid off."

The defense attorney says he plans to appeal Pevec's case.
