POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY -- 10 to 23 months in prison for stealing from a nursing home patient. That's the sentence Elizabeth DeLeon received in Schuylkill County court Monday afternoon.

DeLeon stole from Margarate Palko, who had dementia. Palko was a patient at the Schuylkill Center Nursing Home and has since passed away.

On Monday, her family tells us they're finally at peace after seeing DeLeon sentenced. DeLeon pled guilty to stealing more than $200,000 in money and belongings from Margarate Palko.

PalkoÕs sister and brother in law were at the sentencing. Francis Hudock, Palko's brother in-law said, ÒWe're more or less glad it's over with. It's been very strenuous on the Palko family. But thank god it's over with, it hasn't been easy but we'll survive."

DeLeon was Palko's power of attorney. Prosecutors say she bilked money from Palko's account over the course of three years.

She even traded in Palko's car to get a new one for herself. During her sentencing, Deleon had a tearful apology for the Palko family.

She said she loved and cared for Palko who was a longtime family friend. DeLeon will start her sentence at the Schuylkill County prison on November 30th.
