MONROE COUNTY - Police have identified the remains of a woman whose body was dismembered and thrown along two interstates as 36-year-old Deanna Marie Null from the Williamsport area.
Police say Null was last seen with a black male that had a military style short hair cut. He was driving an older model black or blue Buick or Cadillac with a fabric roof and chrome luggage rack on the back. Troopers say Null was last seen getting into that car in Scranton about two weeks ago.
Officers found her body parts in eight different trash bags scattered along interstates 80 and 380 last Tuesday. Last Wednesday officials conducted an autopsy and released a description of the victim. Deanna's family hadn't talked to her in two weeks so they called police and said they knew someone who matched that description. Police then used dental records to confirm it was Deanna.
Troopers said it's a major break in the case. Police Lt. Robert Bartal explained, "You have a jumping in point anyway and I know we still have a two week window that we're trying to close the gap on but at least we now know who she is - where she was at least staying and you can start backtracking from there."
Null was also the victim of a drive-by shooting in 2002. A group of young men fired shots at her Williamsport home. Her boyfriend and their two children were outside at the time. No one was hurt.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
