Every day, 24 hours a day, volunteers answer the emergency hot-line at Women's Resources. When the stories on the other side of the phone seem too tough to handle they turn to small reminders of hope.
Jennifer Grube runs Women's Resources of Monroe County. She told us a little girl, who overcame trauma, drew this picture. She keeps this drawing to remind her that every phone call is an opportunity to make a difference.
Women's Resources has seventeen hot-line volunteers now, but it's not enough. Grube says they need about two dozen more. Women's Resources will train volunteers to take emergency phone calls.
Jane Koelble has answered phones for more than twenty years. She wants others to join her so say that there's always someone to answer the phones, every day, twenty four hours a day.
If you would like to volunteer you can call 570-424-2093. The training is twice a week for eight to ten weeks. Once your done you can take the emergency calls from home.
