World Series Cooks Up Food Sales

World Series Cooks Up Food Sales - Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 5:24PM EST

Thursday, Oct 29, 2009 @ 05:24pm EDT

The World Series is a home run for pizza and wings sales at Tommy's Pizza Corner in Kingston .

Mellisa Taffera says there's only one way to describe the work load the World Series has created.

"Last night was crazy, really busy. Lots of deliveries, a lot of people out watching the games. Pizza and wings, that's the way you do it," said Taffera.

Next up to bat is game two on Thursday night.

Workers here at Tommy's are ready to have their starting lineup on the field....or kitchen.

They're preparing the dough, sauce and slices knowing the rush will be on before game two's first pitch.

Tommy's staff says sales have jumped about twenty percent in the past two days.

"It keeps things busy and you keep moving and everybody's happy when it's over," said Taffera.

Tommy’s Pizza Corner cook Tim Hannigan said, "It's been a mixture of Yankees and Phillies fans and they're at each other's throats."

At each other's throats, all in good fun and hopefully watching the game on a full stomach.

"It's definitely a good feeling and especially when the team you like is playing in the World Series," said Hannigan.
