Wyoming County D.A. Files Appeal in Sexting Case

Wyoming County D.A. Files Appeal in Sexting Case - Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 5:10PM EST

WYOMING COUNTY- District Attorney George Skumanick has appealed a federal court decision.

It temporarily prevents him from filing charges in a sexting case. The court action comes after the American Civil Liberties Union took Skumanick to court last month.

He claims three teens sent cell phone pictures of themselves. He considers that to be child pornography. The ACLU disagreed and said criminal charges would violate the teens' civil rights.

Skumanick claims the ruling allows virtually anyone to commit a crime, and then argue they shouldn't be arrested because it would violate their civil rights.
