EATON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY- Clean up crews are busy clearing roads and fixing downed power lines in Eaton Township.
There was extensive damage along Jenks Road.
Chainsaws are being put to use Wednesday night after a wicked storm tore through parts of Wyoming County.
Eaton Township Resident Leo Russavage was home at the time.
Russavage said, "Right after 1:00 we heard a roar out front and thought it was equipment of some type and we looked out the window and got a look. We saw that many trees were down in the back yard."
"It was over very quickly," said Russavage.
Not knowing what happened he checked out the damage to his property.
His house was OK but they lost a lot of fruit trees.
Even worse, a large tree tumbled over and landed right on his truck.
Russavage said, "I've got some yard work to do for the next month or so."
Road crews will be busy cleaning up too.
A lot of the trees and debris whipped across the streets blocking traffic.
Eaton Township road worker Don Williams said, "Everything was across the road, all the trees, the wires, everything."
Don Scudder from Brown's Tree Service said. "You can obviously see something come through here and closed the road and took em across the road. It dropped the wires, the electric is out, phone is out and the road is closed."
While crews work hard to make repairs they're grateful no one was hurt. | |
