Next Thursday may be the next time we can see the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees play at home again.
The estimate comes after weeks of a soggy field at PNC Field.
The yanks are playing on the road in Allentown Friday night..
They're supposed to be playing in Moosic.
Fans like Dan Summa of Dunmore are frustrated.
"I'm a little disgusted. You know we had these tickets in advance and this is the second, third time I've had to change them," said Summa.
Summa is trying to look on the bright side.
He got comparable seats when he exchanged his cancelled tickets for another game.
Same can't be said for Dwyane McDavitt of Kingston .
McDavitt says he bought behind the plate tickets for July 4th's cancelled game.
But when he exchanged those tickets, McDavitt says he got bleacher seats instead.
"I'll never be back here. It's only one family but they've totally taken my trust out of the Yankee stadium here, not the Yankees themselves," said McDavitt.
Grounds crews have used a helicopter and dug trenches to help dry the field.
As frustration mounts, Luzerne County commissioner Maryanne Petrilla visited the park Friday.
"Met with the groundskeepers and they feel very confident that they'll be ready to be back on the field," said Petrilla.
Luzerne County owns a 50 percent share in the franchise.
Petrilla has asked for a meeting with the Lackawanna County Stadium Authority.
She hopes that can happen in the next week.
The yanks play in Allentown Friday night, then Syracuse this weekend.
That series was also supposed to be played at home. | | |
