WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- State Representative John Yudichak beat Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton for the Democratic nomination in the 14th District of the PA State Senate.

The race for the 14th District is up for grabs because State Senator Ray Musto is retiring after 27 years of senate service. It's been a heated campaign to fill his spot.

Their campaigns have been on the attack both running ads against each other clearly showing a lot was at stake with today's primary election.

On the Republican side, Luzerne County Commissioner Stephen Urban is running unopposed. He'll face Yudichak for the seat in November.
